This week, we had our first Mystery Skype!  Skype is a software application that allows us to video conference (see and hear the class we are working with) for FREE!  The students had no idea where the class was from that we were Skyping with.  Their goal was to cooperate as a team to try and figure out the location of the class we Skyped with.

There were a few rules to the Mystery Skype.  The two classes had to take turns asking closed (yes or no) questions to help them find the location of the class they were Skyping with.  Some of the questions asked included:

Are you east of the Mississippi River?
Do you share a border with Canada?
Are you in the Eastern time zone?
Do you share a border with an ocean?

With the use of physical/political maps and iPads we were able to figure out that the class we were Skyping with was from Indiana ("Go Colts!").  The 4th grade Indiana class figured out that we were from Michigan.

Thank you to Mrs. Regruth and her 4th grade class for a very engaging lesson!  We look forward to Skyping with you again in the future!
